Floor stripper chemicals are applied to dissolve and remove old, built-up layers of wax, polymer finishes, and embedded dirt from hard floors
The operation of chemical floor stripping involves dissolving and removing old layers of wax, polish, or finish from hard floors using specialized chemical solutions
Mix the concentrated chemical floor stripper with cool or lukewarm water in a bucket, following the dilution instructions on the product label.
Use a dedicated mop to apply the mixed solution liberally onto a manageable section of the floor (such as an 8×10 foot area).
Do not wring the mop completely; flood the surface so it stays evenly saturated
Let the chemical solution sit (dwell) for 5 to 10 minutes to break down and liquefy the old wax or finish.
Crucial step: Keep the floor wet during this time. If the solution begins to dry out in any spots, reapply more chemical mixture immediately
Use a low-speed rotary floor machine fitted with a heavy-duty black stripping pad to scrub the wet floor and loosen the dissolved finish.
Use a hand scraper, utility pad, or putty knife along edges, baseboards, and corners where the machine cannot reach.
Remove the dirty liquid residue and dissolved wax using a wet/dry vacuum or a clean mop.
Rinse the floor thoroughly with clean water (or a neutralizing rinse) to remove any leftover chemical traces.
Allow the floor to dry completely before applying any new sealants or floor finish
